We've all been told to recycle to save waste. Some of us are Freecyclers and give away things we don't need to others who might have a use for our junk. Now there is pre-cycling.
A lot of us bring waste home with us in the form of packaging. However, it is possible to shop without generating waste packaging. This is called pre-cycling whereby you reduce waste by bringing your own containers.
For example, you could bring your own containers to a fruit and veg sellers, delicatessen or butchers shop and buy loose produce. This produce can then be put into your own containers thus saving on waste packaging.

I like the idea of Pre-Cycling. I recycle almost everything. I try not to throw anything away.
But trying to pre-cycle is even better. If we could all look at what be buy, and how we buy it, then maybe we could save more money, and make less waste, to help our wallets and our environment.
Interesting concept but I bet you the advertisers of the world would crush this idea. I can see how this could save you some money though. Good post!
I have tried this at my local farmers market with ready made food. She wouldn't because she didn't know if they were clean and said she could get in trouble. I wonder if that was true or just her way of getting out of it??!! My local take out, did let me use by container, and they were happy...it was glass and heavier than theirs!
Ah, so now it's called pre-cycling.
We already did so in the sixties, forcing shops to pre-cysle too, as we brought all the empty packages back to them. LOL!
Amazon.com just introduced a new service called "Frustration-Free Packaging" which aims to reduce the amount of wasted packaging material involved in shipping:

Sounds like a step in the right direction!
