I have been out and about over the past three weeks, helping farmers bring in crops, herd livestock and do general labouring. In return I have been given plenty of food and meat to supplement what I grow or find.
On my travels I have met many WWOOFers, people who are willing to work on organic farms in return for food and lodgings. WWOOF stands for World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (also Willing Working On Organic Farm).
There is an organisation on the Internet that advertisers opportunities for people to travel the world in return for their labour.
If you are a person with spare time and would like to learn more about organic farming then WWOOFing may be for you.

Wow, thanks for mentioning this, something very interesting to know for maybe when my boys are older.
I know many who have done it and enjoyed it very much.
If you are interested in WWOOFing in the USA, we list almost 800 farms that are looking to host you in exchange for knowledge and experience working on an organic farm! Check us out at www.wwoofusa.org
Thanks!
you can also find a list for most countries at the free wwoof list.
