Spending power decreasing

Your average UK citizen has seen their spending power decrease by 15% over the past 5 years. The cost of living has increased markedly with double digit rises in the price of food and energy.

Though I live a frugal lifestyle I still notice price increases, especially the price of diesel (up 30% in 5 years) for my car and those foodstuffs (up 45% in 5 years) I can't produce myself.

In the past, when I talked about being frugal to others, I was looked on as being mean with my money. Now, everyone is mean.

Good post! I think you might find the following post quite interesting as it links in with consumers/spending/waste etc, pretty useful information, what with being faced with prices continuously on the rise, in terms of both food and petrol, the amount of money saved by your average household is decreasing, whilst the amount borrowed is increasing. Food is being wasted almost as much as money is, and this is a contributing factor to our current financial climate. Our current situation should give us food for thought, and so the post can be found at http://www.money.co.uk/article/1000867-food-for-thought.htm - please let me know what you think!

Thanks again for your time,
Matt.
