Everyone is feeling the squeeze

The BBC has interviewed UK families from various economic groups. All are feeling the pinch from the credit crunch and double digit inflation.

From selling the second car and taking fewer car journeys, to replacing the oil heating with a wood burning stove, everyone is changing their lifestyle to make ends meet.

Downsizing to smaller homes. Reducing food bills through buying less, buying cheaper brands or basic ingredients are ways people are using to make food more affordable.

John, it appears everyone's living like stereotypical students!
Also, what with last year's flooding, a smart move is to get home insurance, but with updated flood maps meaning that insurers aren't providing those most at risk with insurance, a lot of us will be heading further into tricky financial situations. This week's blog discusses what floodmapping may mean to us in the coming flood seasons. It can be found at http://www.money.co.uk/article/1000931-a-model-of-imperfection-could-flood-mapping-leave-you-uninsured.htm - please let me know what you think!

My family and I are definitely feeling the squeeze. My mother-in-law can't afford to pay her rent because of her higher bills and now we have to cover it, VERY frustrating!!

What is your mother-in-law doing to make ends meet? Eating out less? Eating less processed food? Walking more?

What a novel idea -- going green by consuming less.

Such a notion flies in the face of conventional logic -- if there's a fad or a trend, market a bunch of crap that people who identify with said fad or trend will snap up in droves.

Your idea makes a lot more sense, however.
